A FAST GROWING CONCERN:

Media Literacy

In our digital era, which is currently being fundamentally reshaped by the broad implementations of Artificial Intelligence, it becomes increasingly important to promote even better media literacy. Not only in the name of science, but also for a sustainable mental health of young generations, it is becoming more important, to keep an eye on what is happening on social networks and information sources.

I.C.A.P.E. advocates for the implementation of Media Literacy in curricula, specifically in secondary education. Phenomena like Clip Thinking are of growing concern among educational professionals and psychologists, as we are starting to see societal changes, that are fundamental. At universities, it is mandatory, that students learn to dissect valuable from false information. We believe, that it should not only be limited to tertiary education.

Every individual who uses digital devices should be capable of critically assessing and questioning information, regardless of their final educational pursuits. For a functional society, building digital autonomy and resilience is crucial, because only then it will be possible to leverage the good aspects that the information era brings forth.
